All the little ghosts, goblins, and ghouls won’t have to worry about there being enough sugar to make their favorite Halloween treats this year.
That’s according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which recently reported that as of September 30, America’s sugar stocks-to-use ratio was 15.2%.
Stocks-to-use is a measurement of surplus, and in this case means that even if we didn’t produce another pound of sugar, there is enough leftover from the 2014 crop to meet 15.2% of America’s annual consumption.
Of course, that won’t be necessary since the sugarbeet and sugarcane harvests are already underway for the 2015 crop year and the supply outlook is strong.
Simply put, there’s more than enough to go around on October 31, so have fun and be safe.
