WASHINGTON – Last Friday, President Donald Trump nominated Gregg Doud, the current president of the Commodity Markets Council, to the position of Chief Agricultural Negotiator in the U.S. Trade Representative’s office. The American Sugar Alliance released the following statement about the announcement:
Mr. Doud has a tremendous amount of experience in agricultural and trade policy. He is an advocate for U.S. farmers and ranchers, he knows that a smart trade policy is essential for rural America’s success, and he understands the importance of enforcing trade agreements and trade laws to ensure they operate effectively and fairly.
Many of the American Sugar Alliance’s board members have had the privilege to work with Mr. Doud and are confident he will excel as America’s top agricultural trade negotiator. We applaud the White House for filling this important position with a leader of Mr. Doud’s caliber, and we urge the Senate to confirm his nomination expeditiously.
